  1. Despite the huge international hit, “Odessey and Oracle’ did not launch a comeback for the Zombies. They were practically already broken up in late ‘67 when the album was completed and weren’t about to reunite in Argent was already with his new namesake band/5().

  2. “Odessey and Oracle” is now widely considered one of the greatest albums of the sixties and the rock era, but it took a long and winding path to finally get that acknowledgement. Recorded in , released in and finally making the charts in , it might have been totally forgotten had Al Kooper not pressured Columbia into releasing it just as they were about to pass on it/5().

  9. Recording and production. Odessey and Oracle was recorded after the Zombies signed a recording contract with the UK CBS label. They began work on the album in June Nine of the twelve songs were recorded at Abbey Road. "Friends of Mine" was recorded on 1 June, "A Rose for Emily" was started on 1 June and completed on 10 July (take 5 reduction of take 3), "This Will Be Our Year" was.
